Limassol the city that never sleeps

Greetings to all travel enthusiasts! Cyprus is a small island hidden somewhere in the Mediterranean. It is warm, sunny, beautiful and a popular holiday destination. You probably heard of it or visited it in the past. Now is the perfect time to plan a trip to the coastal city of Limassol since it is more picturesque than ever. Even Trip-Advisor ranked it as the 3rd up and coming destination in the world. Limassol is the second largest city of the island and boasts a vast shoreline of beaches, luxurious holiday resorts and a buzzing vivid nightlife. It is a cosmopolitan city with unlimited energy and one that never sleeps.

It is a traditional village in the Limassol district that requires a 40 minute drive from the city.  It stands at an altitude of 900 meters and it is famous for its wine making and the handmade lace shops. Here you can witness a different side of Cyprus as Omodos is a captivating old village with well-preserved houses and warm people. From the square you can visit the small monastery of Timios Stavros and the Church of the Holy Cross. The Monastery is home to a piece of the Holy Rope with which Christ’s hands were tied to the Cross. The cobblestoned square leads to small alleys, coffee shops, taverns and shops. Walk through the narrow streets, visit the souvenir shops and taste traditional Cypriot cuisine and wine at the local taverns.

marina-newThe Limassol Marina is a newly built attraction in Limassol. The new modern marina is a great addition and is situated right next to the old town and the castle. The contrast between the old and the new is vast. The marina combines elegant luxurious seaside residences and a full-service marina with alluring shops, cafes and restaurants. It can accommodate up to 650 yachts and the luxury flats and villas come with private berths and direct access to the beach. The complex also has a spa and fitness centre. It is a wonderful place for coffee or food at any time of the day and if you cannot afford a yacht or an exclusive apartment do not worry. You can still admire them for the price of a sweet ice cream.

promenadeThe Limassol Promenade has also been upgraded and has become a landmark of the city. It is a modern day oasis with its palm trees and the little jetties. Now you can take a long walk, jog or ride your bicycle from the city centre all the way to the entrance of the city. It is a great place to visit and along the way, you shall find various cafes and taverns that offer the appropriate resting places. If fitness and exercise are not for you then you can always skip the tiresome part and go straight to the lively bars on the waterfront for some refreshing cocktails.

This is all for now, my dear fellow adventurers. In conclusion please remember that life is short and beautiful and it is strictly up to you to enjoy it and live it to the fullest.
