One of the best ways to experience Cyprus as a true local is by exploring one of its mountainous villages. One of our absolute favourites is Omodos Village. The picturesque village is steeped in tradition. Omodos is located just over 42 kilometres from bustling Limassol and is definitely one of the most picturesque villages you’ll ever visit. Omodos is without a doubt idyllic for all you history lovers but is also known as one of the most prominent winemaking producers within the district of Limassol. Recognised as a historic gem, the village has plentiful to offer every visitor. One of the most noteworthy is the Monastery of Stavros. The monastery also houses a petit and charming National Museum, where visitors have the pleasure of viewing old coins, wood carvings and religious objects.
The Paphos’ Old Port is one spot you must not fail to visit. It is not simply a picturesque medieval port, but it is home to the grandiose Paphos Castle. Nothing has been removed from this landmark, as it still stands tall and proud. You will also enjoy the sight of the locals walking around, the tiny fishermen’s boats that come and go, and many other things as you wander about this spectacular sightseeing spot.
