At a distance of 20 kilometres from Chania city and on the east side of Akrotiri you will find Seitan Limania Beach. The word Seitan is of Turkish origin and means satanic while Limania is the Greek word for ports. Prepare yourselves accordingly as you embark on the journey to enter Satan’s Ports in order to enjoy one of the most breath taking beaches of Crete. It is located 4km from Hordaki village and to get there you have to drive through the village following the road all the way to the end. There is a short steep path to walk and then you will come across this amazing hidden exotic paradise. Despite its scary name Seitan Limania Beach is a heavenly small cove with crystal blue waters and huge rocky cliffs. The beach is mostly gravel and sand and since it is not organised you will need to bring with you all the essentials to fully appreciate this wonderful beach. I guess in Satan’s Ports the view is simply amazing.

The Heraklion Archaeological Museum is a great place to go and appreciate the once great Minoan civilisation. It is one of the largest in Greece and it houses relics from the Cretan history ranging from the Neolithic period to the Roman times. The museum is located in the centre of the town and was originally built around 1940 with the actual building receiving a Bauhaus recommendation for its modernist architecture.

Heraklion-Archaelogical-MThe Heraklion Archaeological Museum consists of 2 floors and the artefacts are listed in the 20 exhibit halls that are arranged both chronologically and geographically.  It has the biggest collection of Minoan art in the world and it is the designated place to visit in order to see all the remnant masterpieces.  Some of the marvels exhibited in the museum include the Disc of Phaistos, jewellery, coins, metalwork, sculptures, ceramics, masonry, weaponry, everyday tools, burial sarcophagi, religious artefacts and some superb paintings from the Palace of Knossos. It is strongly recommended you visit the museum before visiting the various archaeological sites. This way you can learn beforehand some of the facts and history behind Cretan legends and sites.
