The Unique Casa Parlante

Casa Parlante Museum is undeniably one of the top and most impressive museums found in Corfu Town, just steps away from Spianada Square and Liston.

The impressive museum first opened its doors in March 2014 and is well worth your visit. Housed in a dominating 19th century mansion, the museum showcases old furniture and animated figures, illustrating how a noble Corfiot family lived during the 19th century.

Anyone who wonders through the house is transported to another era, as they enter the world of nobility and discover how Counts, Countesses and their children lived in a mansion with their servants and maids.

Corfu’s past conquerors have shaped and influenced the island’s culture and way of life. As a matter of fact, Corfu was established as the cultural and intellectual hub amongst the Ionian archipelago. Corfu also thrived in other areas such as the arts, trade and economy. The exhibitions depict and portray perfectly how a noble family used to live back in those days, taking into account all the influences that shaped their culture.

The robotic animated figures, clothing, household decoration, old furniture as well as the smells and sounds you experience transport you back in time. Some of the scenes depicted include the Countess welcoming guests, the Count reading a newspaper while the children are busy playing music as any other noble family of the time.

Casa Parlante Museum is an impressive addition to the island’s fascinating museums. Those looking to walk through the island’s past must add Casa Parlante to their to-do-list!
