Those visiting the marvellous Greek island of Rhodes already know that apart from its blue-green waters and golden sandy coastline, the island is bathed in history and culture. When in Rhodes, take a break from sun-tanning and pay a visit to some of the island’s most impressive landmarks.

Today we are off castle hunting…. Let’s see what we will find!

Kritinia Castle is a definite must-visit nestled close to Kritinia Village and Kamiros attraction. Soaring in the blue sky, the Venetian fort stands on a 400-foot hill, attracting visitors to its romantic setting. Kritinia Castle is the idyllic spot to watch the sun sink into the horizon as well as a fascinating landmark where you will marvel at Venetian walls as well as look out posts.

Perched on the top of a nearly 800-foot hill, the castle is the perfect spot to soak in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Adjacent the fabulous Venetian fort you will also find the Church of St. Panteleimon, which fascinates visitors with its whitewashed architecture and doomed roof. While the remains of the castle are impressive and setting is exquisite, nothing beats the breathtaking vistas you will encounter.

That’s all for now folks! Stay tuned for more on Rhodes.
