All the roads lead to Zakynthos and Louis Hotels.

Let’s take a look at 4 top landmarks you must visit and activities you must do while holidaying in Zakynthos this summer.

The Blue Caves are always a definite hit, and one of the many hidden natural treasures you’ll come across on the island. Some even describe the Blue Caves as intoxicating! The arches of the caves were formed by sea erosion, but what makes them so exhilarating is their turquoise water. Guess what? Whatever goes in to the water turns blue! It’s a true fact! The island overflows with sea caves. In fact it is home to more than 400 caves! What are you waiting for? So, hop on a boat and head for the water to explore the magical sea world!

Go off the beaten track and try something different and exciting! Some people simply need to feel their adrenaline rush when holidaying. Zakynthos is the right place for holidaymakers looking for a bit of off the beaten track adventure! There are loads you can do when in Zakynthos, like going on a horse riding tour right on the beach! You can also opt for cycling, hiking or boat tours where you will be led to all the hidden treasures the island hides.

Smuggler’s Cove or Navagio Beach as most know it is probably the most photographed beach through Greece. In 1980 a large fleet sunk to the seabed after being chased by the local marine authorities for smuggling illegal cigarettes. The ship was a Scottish fleet made in 1937!  Now, why is the Shipwreck Bay the most photographed beach in Greece? Well, the sunken ship just adds to the entire effect of the scene, as it is plunged into emerald blue waters, chalk-like sands and encircled by 900 feet soaring cliffs! Words cannot describe the views of the mystifying bay from above and everyone visiting Zakynthos must add this landmark to their bucket list!

Museum hopping is always a great way to unravel the local culture and history. Zakynthos has a rich cultural history that fascinates even the tedious jetsetters. The island’s history goes all the way back to 1600 BC, and artefacts or findings are exhibited in the many museums across the island. One of the most fascinating is the Byzantine Museum of the island. The museum of D. Solomos and A. Kalvos is another history lover must-see, as the collection showcases works of two of the most reputed Greek poets, Dionysios Solomos and Andreas Kavlos. Solomos is the poet who wrote the national anthem of Greece!

That’s all for now folks, stay tuned for more on Zakynthos next month!
