The Sirens will lure you to enchanted Mykonos
Greetings to all travel enthusiasts! Last night I had the weirdest of dreams. It involved Madonna, great beaches and a lot of partying. I guess my subconscious is sending a distress signal and a very clear message to my brain. Suddenly I drip into the mythological times feeling just like Ulysses when he was tempted by the irresistible Sirens. They whisper into my ear and the voices get louder and louder. This summer is all about a grandiose holiday adventure to my favourite island, La Isla Bonita.
Mykonos is the mecca of holiday destinations offering a combination of dreamy long sunny days and even longer spicy nights. Come join me as we head off to the island of the winds. Lots of fun, azure clear waters, lovely beaches and romantic white buildings are just a click away.
Cavo Paradiso is one of the most extraordinary music venues in Europe and the place to visit for a great night out. As the name suggests itis the bay of paradise for partying. Here you can enjoy the various world famous DJs that pop to Mykonos to elevate the visiting crowds during the summer. The design of Cavo Paradiso blends with the rugged natural environment of the area and this open air club gives you the opportunity to appreciate the most amazing view from the cliff while dancing away. It stays open until early in the morning and from this iconic club of Mykonos you can witness the sunrise popping up from the horizon and the blue sea. It seems that you are floating on the water but of course at 6 a.m. it just may be the alcohol speaking.
When you have had enough of the partying and the crowded beaches it is time to visit Agios Sostis bay. The name itself translates to Saint Saviour and it is great to know that there is always a Saint to come to your rescue and save you from your sins and cure the common Mykonian hangovers.
On top of the hill lies the picturesque whitewashed Church of Saint Sostis with a wonderful view of the bay. It is a charming little chapel with cobblestone pavements and during the summer many marriage ceremonies take place at this idyllic location. If you are planning to get married away from home then this is your spot.
Just below the chapel lies the sandy Agios Sostis Beach. It is a quiet and peaceful location with crystal clear waters. There are no luxury restaurants, no beach bars and no loud music, just pure Aegean natural beauty. It is so highly rated because unlike other locations in Mykonos it has managed to remain unspoilt. At Agios Sostis the beach is not organised so it is up to you to bring along all the necessary ‘beach survival’ accessories.
