Sweet like… “loukoumi”
Cyprus is well known for its delicious sweets known as ‘delights’, which have been produced on the island for centuries
The locals call these delights “loukoumia”, a word also used as a general metaphor to express something that “this is very delicious”.
Geroskipou, along with a number of other villages within the Paphos district, still produce these delicious bite-sized delights the traditional way without any preservatives or coloring agents. The delights consist of sugar, cornstarch, flavorings like a rose (most traditional), lemon, mastic, and bergamot. Today, however, you can find a vast range of other exciting flavors like chocolate, pomegranate, and nuts.
Be sure to try Loukoumi during your next visit to Cyprus. To make your experience as pleasant as can be, book your stay at any of our Louis Hotels in Paphos – where you can try these delights at their best quality.
