Museums with a Twist in Limassol!

Today we present four local museums that culture vultures should not miss while in Limassol as their exhibits depict and promote local traditions and products that have made Cyprus what it is today.

Cyprus Wine Museum is nestled in Erimi Village and allows visitors to set off on a journey through the islands long history of winemaking! There you will view archaic vases and pots, ancient tools used to make wine, medieval vessels as well as ancient documents and storage units. Audiovisual equipment brings back to life all the stages of wine production starting from vine cultivation to its production!

Pasteli Museum is found in charismatic Anogyra Village. The one-of-a-kind museum shows visitors how the Cypriot Pasteli is made and manufactured. Pasteli is one of the island’s oldest sweets which is made primarily using carob. The Pasteli Festival is also great fun for those of you seeking to experience local life and culture!

Hambis Printmaking Museum opened its doors in 2008. Its fascinating exhibit illustrates the history of printmaking including the materials, techniques, printing presses as well as ancient prints and works. The museum’s showcases more than 150 engravings dating back to the 16th century, including engravings originating from Russia, Serbia, Australia, England, Germany, China, Japan, Turkey, Italy, Switzerland and Cyprus.

To Ploumisto Psomi Museum is an exceptional and innovative museum whereby workshops are held exhibiting how traditional plumed bread was and is made in Cyprus. The popular museum takes visitors on a fascinating journey on how bread was first created and changed through the passage of time. Those interested in exploring the folklore, history and rich cultural significance of bread must visit the Ploumisto Psomi Museum!
