A quick look at the world famous beaches of Protaras

Greetings to all travel enthusiasts! On the south eastern part of sunny Cyprus you will find the resort of Protaras that is famous for the glorious sandy beaches and the luxury hotels. In the past few years it was greatly developed to accommodate the needs of vacationers.

It is a popular destination for both local and foreign tourists. The quieter and more relaxed ambience is suitable for families, couples and people who want to relax at the beach or simply zone out in the comfort of their 5 star hotel. Today we shall have a quick look at some of the main beaches of Protaras.

Vrisi is the main beach of Protaras and it is a 1.5km long stretch of golden sand. It is comprised of continuous beach strips with no markers between them and a wooden boardwalk allows you to roam from one point to another. Everything is organised and there are lots of restaurants, fast food outlets, bars and cafeterias along the way.

Fig Tree Bay took its name from the fig trees that used to dominate the surrounding area. It is a blue flag beach and it is considered as one of the best in the island while in 2011 Trip Advisor declared it to be the third best beach in Europe. Soft golden sand, clear blue waters, safe for children and water sports activities.

The beautiful secluded beach of Konnos Bay is certainly the most interesting and it is well hidden from the road and surrounded by steep hills and pine trees. The views from the cliff to Cape Greko and to Agioi Anargiroi church are amazing. In summer it gets very busy and it is best to arrive very early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

This is all for now my dear fellow adventurers. In conclusion please remember that life is short and beautiful and it is strictly up to you to enjoy it and live it to the fullest.
