Zante Town: The best way to explore the fascinating town of Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is on foot. Zakynthos Town resembles an open-air museum, boasting with hidden heritage, museums and spectacular architecture-mainly left behind by the Venetians and Byzantines.
Strada Marina: Strada in Greek means road hence the name given to Strada Marina, which is a coastal paved promenade that takes those following the path from one end of Zante to Dionysus Solomos Square, the central square of the island. Those looking to really get the essence of Zakynthos must stroll along the promenade where on one side visitors soak in the marvellous views of the sea while the other side is dotted with local shops, tavernas and cafeterias. Solomos Square: The main square of Zante Town was named after Dionysios Solomos, a world-famed Greek poet. Within the grounds of the square visitors find a statue of the world known poet. Zakynthos Byzantine Museum: Found nearby Dionysios Solomos Square, the Byzantine Museum of the island offers insight to the island’s Byzantine past dating back from the 12th to the 18th century. Saint Dionysios Church: Saint Dionysios is the island’s patron saint therefore it comes as no surprise that the church dedicated to the saint is the largest and most impressive church found within Zante Town. Navagio Bay: Navagio Bay, also known as the Smugglers Cove, is indeed the most photographed spot on the island! The golden-white bay and shimmering turquoise waters are held captive, surrounded by imposing limestone cliffs that soar into the blue skies. Marathonissi Isle: The tiny little turtle-shaped isle floats in the waters of Laganas beach and has long been home to the Caretta Caretta sea turtles. There are numerous myths surrounding the isle and its distinct shape. The most popular legend narrates that ancient civilisations carved the island-forming a turtle-in honour of its visitors, the Caretta Caretta.
Shiza: The perfect spot to marvel at breathtaking sunsets is at the top of Shiza! From three hundred metres above the blue sea, watching the sun magically dip into the azure waters of the Ionian is a magical experience.
