Little Venice is without a doubt the most romantic area in Mykonos Town, made up of 16th and 17th-century homes with colourful balconies that literally hang over the blue sea. The neighbourhood’s actual name is Alefkandra, but due to its amazing beauty, the area has adopted the name Little Venice. It is also the most cosmopolitan spot to be for a night out on the town or a chilling drink while enjoying the sunset. When wandering through Little Venice try to find the cathedral of Panagia Pigadiotissa.  According to legend, it is home to an icon of the Virgin Mary which was found in a pigadi (well), hence the church was named Pigadiotissa.

The Aegean Maritime Museum of Mykonos is a definite must-see for all sea lovers! The museum showcases an insightful collection of maritime artefacts and relics starting off from Minoan period to contemporary times. It is quite an amazing experience to unravel the development of ships through the passage time. The museum also displays model ships and nautical instruments.

Panagia Paraportiani, the island’s picturesque church, must be visited during sunset. The 15th-century church is, in fact, a group of five individual chapels built along the gate of a medieval fort. The breathtaking view of the sun dipping into the turquoise sea is out of this world!

Lena’s House is a 19th-century mansion which belonged to a local named Lena Skivanou. The mansion remains intact as it was back in the 19th century and operates as a museum. Moni Panagia Tourliani is an inspiring monastery found in Ano Mera. The 16th-century monastery is dedicated to the island’s patron saint. The monastery is Ano Mera’s most popular landmark as its craftsmanship impresses all its visitors. The exterior is white as snow and its most distinctive feature is the red dome. The monastery’s marble tower is also impressive, to say the least.
