Corfu is an island bathed in culture and history, making it a prime destination for culture and history vultures. Today we are going to take a look at two must-visit sites all holidaymakers shouldn’t miss while in Corfu!
The inspiring Royal Palace is known by most as St. Michael & St. George Palace. This luxurious establishment was built between 1814-1824 by the British. The purpose of the palace was to accommodate the Battalion of St. Michael and St. George. When it was first built, the Royal Palace was the second largest palace across Greece. It was constructed using Maltese limestone and its architectural style is reminiscent of the Classical Romantic period.
Currently, the Royal Palace is home to a fascinating museum. The Museum of Asian Arts is one of the most frequently visited in Corfu where visitors enter the world of ancient Asian art.

Monastery of Palaiokastritsa is a pictorial church found on the green hill slope above the sun-kissed beach of Palaiokastritisa. The dominating church was initially built in 1228 but the present structure was rebuilt in the 18th century. Currently, the monastery is inhabited by eight monks who welcome all those looking to explore the monasteries and marvel at the breathtaking views of the island and blue sea from up above.
