Protaras will capture your hearts forever
Greetings to all travel enthusiasts! On the eastern part of Cyprus lies Protaras with the clear blue waters and the sandy beaches. One visit to this amazing tourist resort is enough to capture your hearts forever.
Protaras is very close to the wild clubbing resort of Ayia Napa and it offers a quieter and more relaxed alternative. This reputation reflects on the tourist influx as it caters mostly for families, couples and Cypriot holidaymakers. However, there are still many younger tourists who prefer to stay in Protaras and use it as their base thanks to the variety and quality of hotels, bars, restaurants and leisure services it offers.
The Church of Profitis Elias is the landmark of Protaras that you can spot from miles away. It is a small stone built chapel that gracefully stands on top of a hill and to reach the top you have to climb the whole 150 steps. It is not a minor task but the views are remarkable and once there you are possessed with a feeling of peacefulness and serenity. Sit on the bench, relax for a moment and say hooray to the romantic sunsets and dreamlike seascapes.
Cape Greco offers one of the most cinematic sceneries in Cyprus.Ā It is nicely situated midway between Protaras and Ayia Napa and here the Mediterranean Sea lies directly beneath your feet. The imposing cliff, the clear waters, the sea caves and voila you have your panoramic photos. The most adventurous can try cliff jumping and explore the sea caves but this has to be performed at your own risk! The seabed and the underwater caves are ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving while there is also a 4km bicycle route that leads to a designated picnic area.
Cyprus has a diverse landscape that it is great for trekkers and one walking trail in the Protaras area that is worth your time is the circular Trail of Konnos Beach. The distance to be covered is 4.8km and the average time needed to complete this wonderful expedition is around 2 hours. The journey starts at Konnos Bay to Agioi Anargyroi Church which is located above the sea caves. From there on the trail leads to the bridge of Kamara tou Koraka and passing through the ruins of the temple of Aphrodite and a small pine forest you head back to Konnos Bay. The views throughout are excellent.
This is all for now, my dear fellow adventurers. In conclusion please remember that life is short and beautiful and it is strictly up to you to enjoy it and live it to the fullest. For a holiday like no other book your next trip at Louis Hotels in Protaras.
