Crete overflows with ancient landmarks and ruins vastly thanks to the Minoan civilisation which thrived on the island many centuries ago.

The Minoan civilisation left behind multiple temples, landmarks and ancient sites across Crete but the most marvellous is by far the Minoan Palace of Knossos. Historians think that the Palace of Knossos was hit by tsunami waves back in 1500 BC, due to the volcanic eruption of Thera. The palace was discovered under layers of ash because of the volcanic eruption. Nonetheless, the ash is the reason the frescoes preserved their vibrant and lively colours all these years.
