Zakynthos – Three Amazing Natural Spots you must Visit

Zakynthos, the green covered island, is said to have been preferred by the Greek Gods Artemis and Apollo. Once you visit the Greek Ionian Island you will instantly fall in love with its unmatched beauty. Its magical golden-sandy beaches, emerald waters, hidden sea caves, breathtaking sunsets and wonderful culture satisfy the eyes and souls of even the most discerning travellers.

When in Zakynthos make sure you visit:

Marathonissi, also known as the Turtle Island is found along Laganas Bay. The stunning islet has long been a protected nesting bay for loggerhead turtles known as Caretta-Caretta! The actual shape of the islet resembles a turtle! Coincidence? According to legend, the ancient Greek gods carved the islet to look like a turtle in honour of the turtles that visit the bay.

Navagio (Shipwreck) is probably the most famed and photographed landmark found on the island. The golden cove is encircled by towering cliffs and can only be reached by boat. The story goes that back in 1983 an illegal ship that was smuggling cigarettes sunk to the depth of the emerald sea. The crystalline blue waters are so clear that the old ship can be seen on the seabed.

Keri Lake is renowned as being one of the most picturesque spots on Zakynthos. Named after Keri Village, a timeless village found on the hilltop above the lake, Keri Lake is home to numerous and rare flora and fauna as well as animals. The pedestrian strip along the banks of the river is ideal for nature lovers!

Have a wonderful Zakynthos holiday everyone!
