Limassol & Festivals!

There is always something going in Limassol! Limassol is the cultural and cosmopolitan hub of Cyprus, and no matter what time of year you choose to holiday in Limassol, you are bound to stumble upon a cultural festival! We have put together a list of Limassol’s top annual events, take a look and pick the one you want to attend!

Ever since 1961, the Wine Festival is held at the Municipal Gardens in honour of Dionysus, the God of Wine and the island’s long and rich winemaking history! The event takes place in September every year. This cultural event is a great way to soak in Cyprus’ rich culture and traditions, with lots of folk music, dancing, and traditional specialities and of course local wine! Don’t miss out on the festival’s crowd puller and witness the locals stamping on grapes to make wine just like old times!

The Street Life Festival is a contemporary festival that will take place on the 2nd of May this year. For the last 13 years the festival has been organised by Copy Shop, 2C Design Box, Limassol Municipality and Kanali 6, bringing Limassol’s city centre of Limassol back to life!!
It is anticipated that more than 25 thousand visitors will crowd the streets of Saripolou and Athinon, in the old town of Limassol, while walls, sidewalks, and abandoned houses will become the canvas for many renowned street and graffiti artists, from all around the world!
Besides celebrating art, many other activities have been planned that will draw the crowds making the day as memorable as possible. Other activities include choreographies, skateboarding stunts, jugglers and street performers.

Every June, the ancient Kourion amphitheatre is brought to life with the annual event Shakespearean Nights! Shakespearean plays are performed under the moonlight within the timeless open-air theatre with the breathtaking views of the sparkling Mediterranean as backdrop!

Have you heard of the island’s thriving ancient city-kingdom, Amathous? Every summer, the ancient city-kingdom is revived with the annual Amathusia Festival, transporting all its visitors to the past as they enjoy the festivities that take place amongst the ruins of the old city. The event includes lots of traditional dancing and music!
