10 Reasons NOT to Get Married in Cyprus

You’ve all heard of this exotic Mediterranean Island right? What’s its name…Cyprus, yes that’s right! others say it’s the Island of Love…no wonder so many couples don’t give it a second thought when deciding to tie the knot in Cyprus! If I were getting married, I wouldn’t hop on a plane, travel thousands of miles, get married on a golden beach in the middle of the Mediterranean with the perfect sunset as backdrop, surrounded by my closest friends and family…would you?

Why wouldn’t I? You think I’m weird? Oh my god…just Read on!

  1. Do you know that Cyprus is probably the only spot on earth where the sun always and I mean ALWAYS shines?

Where is the rain guys?! It’s like Cyprus skips all the seasons…its always summer! Is that normal? I think not! Who in their right mind would want to get married on an island that is famed for its all-year-sunshine?

  1. Do you know that Cyprus is the Island of Love? As LEGEND has it, the key word here is LEGEND, the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty chose to rise from the sea foam at a bay called Aphrodite’s Rock and assume her human form.175322785_bd818d2072

Who would want to get married on an island known as the Island of Love? Too cheesy if you ask me!

  1. Do you know that this so-called Island of Love is also a top wedding destination because of its beaches? I mean okay…they are blue…they glisten in the moonlight…the beaches are also golden-brown…and soft…but how do you choose which beach is the ONE to tie the knot? There are so many, I get a headache just simply by thinking of the options!
  2. And the wedding cost? It’s sooo damn cheap! I mean, are you for real? How can you host a wedding with all the trimmings at such low costs? I mean it’s like half of what you would pay back home! Is it normal? How can it be a real wedding unless you take out a second mortgage on your house?
  3. and the Hospitality…don’t get me started! Cyprus people are like the epitome of hospitality…to such an extent that it is damn suffocating! How many smiley and happy faces can you take?
  4. The wedding food? Oh My God! That’s a whole different chapter! You all know how Cyprus is famous for its delicious traditional food right? That’s great…but…they are so manyyyyyy! I mean, France’s got its frog legs and Crepe Suzette, England’s got its roast and pies, Germany’s got its sausages…you get my point right? Each country has got one or two or maximum three top dishes. Cyprus’ top dishes are endless…so what will you add on your wedding menu?2456808241_aacc1812c4
  5. Don’t get me started on history and culture! It’s amazing how such a tiny island overflows with such a cultural heritage. Paphos, the cultural hub of the island, has been declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site…yeap…the entire city! The historic and cultural landmarks were so many that they declared the whole town an UNESCO site to get over with it!

Those thinking of getting married within an ancient landmark, like say Paphos’ 2nd-century Odeon, should think about it twice! Why? Coz again they will get a headache trying to decide where the heck to hold the wedding ceremony! There are so many possibilities it’s exhausting just thinking about it!

  1. also, a Destination Wedding means you have to fly to Cyprus in advance (2 or 3 days before the wedding day)…and just wait for the big day while soaking in the SUN (it’s inevitable) and enjoying the beaches or going on sightseeing tours or….you get my point right? I mean who wants to simply…RELAX…before their big day?
  2. Or who wants to celebrate their wedding three days in a row? A Destination Wedding means that close friends and family only will attend…so who wants to spend their last days of freedom celebrating their ‘imprisonment’?wedding
  3. Finally…who wants a small wedding? I mean Destination Weddings means that your guest list is small…you only get to invite your dearest and closest friends. Is it an actual wedding if you don’t invite your dad’s third cousin you haven’t seen since you were 10? I think not!

Are you convinced? Is Cyprus the top Wedding Destination that all make it out to be or isn’t it???
